From Car to Submarine: Mumbai Rain Memes Take Internet by Storm as City Drowns for Fourth Day

Mumbai's financial capital is not just drowning in rain water, but in memes too. With the city submerged with rain for four days now, Mumbaikars using social media to share their rain woes as memes and jokes.  

With a red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department predicting 'very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall', memes and jokes featuring rain have been proliferating across social media.

One user joked about Mumbai’s “new transport service,” sharing a photo of a car doubling as a submarine.

The most viral piece was the monsoon meme a screenshot of Baahubali 2, where Sivagami was carrying Mahendra Baahubali through the river, while office-goers and other social media users are now featuring themselves as the heroic characters, carrying laptops instead of babies, across the flood water of Mumbai. 

Employees in the corporate world have deemed the phrase "Work From Water" apt as they trudge through knee-deep puddles to their offices, where their remote-working colleagues have been mocking power outages and WiFi downfalls while this is going on. 

One other funny, viral nugget shows the standard Bollywood expectation versus reality meme, in particular, highlighting the terrible infrastructure of Mumbai, particularly with users quoting "Engineering Marvel at its best" with their pictures of flooded flyovers.
