Latest Update: Samsung Galaxy Watch 6

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 series may still seem like a fresh new wearable, we’re already almost at the next iteration. Based on what we know, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 is shaping up to be another solid addition to the company’s Wear OS stable. Here’s everything you need to know about Samsung’s next smartwatch series.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Release Date And Price

We expect the new generation to drop at a Galaxy Unpacked event this summer in Seoul, South Korea. More specifically, Samsung announced its Galaxy Unpacked launch date on July 6, and the event is indeed taking place on July 26. We expect to see the new smartwatches on the day as well.

Don't be surprised if the Galaxy Watch 6 series comes with a price increase over last year's models.

Some renders obtained by WinFuture appear to confirm there will be at least two color options for the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and three for the Galaxy Watch 6. For the Galaxy Watch 6, it appears the colors will be Black, Cream, and Silver. As for the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, the two color offerings are Black and Silver.

This was further corroborated by the Dealabs Magazine leak mentioned earlier. However, the leak separated the colors by size and model. Reportedly, the 40mm Watch 6 will be available in Graphite or Cream, while the 44mm version will offer Graphite or Silver options. As for the Classic variant, both the 43mm and 47mm versions will come in Black or Silver.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 new features

On the sensor front, it’s safe to assume we will still find an accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic sensor, and Samsung’s BioActive sensor (optical heart rate (PPG), electrocardiogram (ECG), and bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) sensor package). Samsung effectively confirmed that the temperature sensor will return on “upcoming Galaxy Watch devices” and gain a few more smarts. For one, the company announced a new Thermo Check app that can measure the temperature of surrounding objects.

We found the current series’ fitness tracking and built-in GPS quite reliable. Also arriving with the new One UI 5 Watch are workout heart rate zones for even more advanced real-time training feedback. These zones will be distinguished as “warm up,” “fat burn,” “cardio,” etc. Samsung is also updating fall detection for even safer workouts and outings. When the feature is triggered, users can communicate directly with emergency services.

Samsung also recently announced irregular heart rhythm notifications for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5, so it stands to reason that this feature will be available on the 6-series when it lands. This is an important addition for those with heart problems, as abnormal rhythm fluctuations could indicate atrial fibrillation (AFib).
